Business Development Manager

Vetter is an international specialist in the production of aseptically prefilled syringe systems, cartridges and vials. We are a family-owned, independent company and do not manufacture our own drugs. Our focus is on providing highly skilled support and state-of-the-art manufacturing resources - we are a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) supporting our customers from the initial phases of clinical development and regulatory approval process through successful product launch, commercial manufacturing, and life cycle management.

The company has production sites in Germany and the U.S., as well as sales offices in Singapore and Japan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and close new business opportunities for Phase III & Commercial projects in assigned Territory.  Currently these territories are Eastern US and other territories as assigned.  This is subject to change.
  • Take ownership of projects and be responsible for their success. (Projects are managed by a project manager.)
  • Grow contract manufacturing sales for services out of Ravensburg, Germany
  • Support customers until transitioned to account management team following commercial launch

Tasks:

  • Identifies and qualifies prospective companies within Territory to determine target list and update regularly
  • Prepares quotes for prospective customers.
  • Facilitates and negotiates confidentiality, development and supply agreements with potential clients in conjunction with Vetter’s legal department, as required
  • Actively promotes Vetter through social media, industry associations, and trade shows
  • Hosts customer visits in Germany
  • Calls on biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies and re-contacts leads regularly
  • Creates and cultivates common lead data base
  • Develops new business opportunities and demonstrates active customer interaction
  • Develops active relationships with relevant consultants
  • Seeks out new networking channels, cultivates new leads and promotes Vetter.  Need to be an active “hunter” for new business.
  • This position requires 30-50% travel with occasional travel to Germany.  Home office based when not traveling.
  • Identifies and exhibits/speaks at trade shows and relevant industry events

Requirements:

Technical Degree (B.S. or M.S.) in an applied science or engineering and sales experience in the technical pharmaceutical industry.  MBA beneficial.

Experience in aseptic pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging highly desirable.

Knowledge of the specific needs and requirements of a contract development and manufacturing organization

English fluency required.  German beneficial.

Resides close to biotechnology hub within territory.
